Here is Charles Boyer with Irene Dunne in a still from the 1939 Leo McCarey film Love Affair, which was later remade, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, as An Affair To Remember and, of course, that version (and its music score) was the inspiration for the more recent Sleepless In Seattle.
Boyer was another star who was always immaculate yet never overdone. His most memorable films, besides Love Affair , were Algiers in 1938 (opposite a radiant Hedy Lamarr) and Gaslight in 1944 (opposite Ingrid Bergman). I've already mentioned in this blog my great affection for the film Barefoot in The Park.
