Eaten away by the maresia (salt-laden wind), a huge iron gate fell off its hinges on Saturday. I am waiting for Metalurgica Max to arrive and repair it. Looking at the railings as well, I realize that they need major repairs.

Tell me about it, I'm starting to see the appeal of a newly built house now, we shell out a fortune on maintenance and repairs.

It must be absolute hell living in a house on the ocean. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLBF - It's the constant sound of the sea which is most affecting. Maybe, we are going to move to the lagoon instead as there we could have much more land and grow things and avoid the salt air - it goes through computers at the rate of about one a year!

ReplyDeleteB&P - It is utter hell - especially when a cool breeze, on a cloudless afternoon, susurates in the palm fronds, and the skuas dive in the breaking foam.
