Book II Cover

Here, at last, is the front of the dust cover for Book II. I am very happy with it, even if the images in the bottom right (aside from the cigarette case) were not my personal choice. 'History' is in the main title again; although I might say that the sub-title is a better description. However, there are, as before, interesting historical titbits, including the fruits of my latest researches on the history of the DJ-Tuxedo, which probably go further than anyone else has gone so far. I feel that I should issue a humour warning: if you cannot read what I have to say with a pinch of salt, then buy a more earnest book, of which there are many. Otherwise, you are likely to be left spluttering with indignation, here and there. However, there are not many books which cover all the ground that is covered here.

  3. Thanks for the interest and enthusiasm! It is officially out on 20.01.2011 but I have seen end of January on one site. It's available for pre-order on amazon.com; amazon.co.uk; bookdepository.com; tesco.com; waterstones.com and all the usual places. I've been rather slow on here as I have to deliver the m/s for Book III soon.

  4. Shredder - I suppose that it would have made a good Christmas gift book. But then I suppose that all writers might say that about their own books!

  6. I'm on for a copy through Book Depository. Has it got any magick spells in it?! JED

  7. Thank you, Raphael and JED as well. There are no charms or 'magick' spells as such but there are mentioned ingredients in certain delightful things! Magick and spells may not be spoken about in specific detail beyond the circles of the initiated.

  8. You seem to suggest that there is a serious side to the spells etc.. Can we expect the full truth?

  9. Anon - I am not sure what you mean by "the full truth". What is that exactly?

  10. I really look forward to the fruits of your latest researches on the history of the DJ-Tuxedo. On how many pages do you talk about this topic in your book?

  11. Raphael - the DJ-Tuxedo takes up mabout four and a half pages. Angus Cundey of Henry Poole (and his archivist, James Sherwood); Lord Dupplin (whose Victorian namesake, but not direct descendant, started the public wearing of the DJ in Britain), and Oriole Cullen of the V&A Museum all helped out and Sator let me have a splendid illustration from an early 20th Century Thornton. There is also quite a bit on the Brown Potters and their association with the then PoW.

  12. The Brown Potters are the American link in the story.
