Just so that we are clear that Norman Parkinson had an eye for contemporary art and fashion, see the above picture of a model in a Philip Treacy hat. Still pretty though.
THE NAKED APE GETS DRESSED. For those who strive for better things and who understand, as did Ben Jonson, that: "the pipe marks the point at which the orang-utan ends and man begins". - And those who understand S T Coleridge's: "While Fate tramples on things of beauty, the indignant human heart shall utter them."
Old hat - seventies punk
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you say that it is derivative but leagues above true punk?
ReplyDeleteIt needs colour don't you think; like a peacock or genuine punk; now i knew a beautiful girl once, long dark hair falling, no cascading all down and along the length of her back; she became a punk and how!!! Real thing!!!!! Then she studied law and became what she used to be; long hair falling, no cascading, cascading down the length............
ReplyDeleteI think that the colour black means that it only derives from punk: a kind of higher form of it.
ReplyDeleteTurning shit into gold as did the old alchemists is one standard of creativity.
ReplyDeleteGrand pics, I love Norman Parkinson's work.
